William Gray Baker Jr. was born in Louisville, Alabama on October 30, 1943. He departed this life in May of 2026. William will be remembered as a handyman, a talented musician, and for his famous words “God’s Watchman”.
William was educated in the Akron Public School system and graduated from South High School. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After serving in the United States Army, he used his musical talents on vocals and the keyboard. William toured with many famous bands all over the United States.
William was preceded in death by his father, Willie G. Baker Sr.; beloved mother, Roberta Baker; and son, Willie G. Baker III.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving grandsons, Willie (Aleisha) Baker IV and Nicholas A. Baker; and grandchildren, Josiah Baker, Zaiden Baker, Kamiyah Baker, Caidence Baker, and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Wellington Funeral Service, 811 Grant St., Akron, Ohio 44311. Cremation has taken place.
